Love Wins with Health
What is Love Wins with Health?
The Love Wins with Health initiative is a collaboration between Mayo Clinic's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP), Mayo Clinic Community Internal Medicine, and the Rochester Branch of the NAACP. This program aims to provide community point of care testing at the annual Juneteenth celebration, which serves over a thousand community members. The initiative, titled "Love Wins + Health," builds upon the Rochester Branch of the NAACP’s “Not in Our Town” and Love Wins campaign. It is designed to support local community members through no-cost diagnostic testing and education.
Chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and kidney disease continue to affect local communities, while social-determinants- of- health, continue to cause disparities in health outcomes despite medical improvements and general health care awareness. As our population grows and ages, it becomes increasingly important to improve awareness and access to preventive care in our local community.
To support this effort, free diagnostic testing will be offered at the point of care during the annual Juneteenth community celebration organized by the Rochester Branch of the NAACP. Testing results will also be available at the Juneteenth location, allowing for immediate consultation and timely guidance on appropriate next steps. This initiative aims to encourage healthier outcomes by promoting awareness, facilitating early detection, and encouraging follow up care for all interested adult community members at the event. This initiative is part of Mayo Clinic’s commitment against racism.
Goals and Objectives
